Welcome to CROW BAR D'SIGNS. Please take a moment to browse the PHOTO GALLERY and see the wide selection of signs and hooks offered.
Nestled in the Green Mountains of Vermont is my little studio where I can generally be found surrounded by my horses and sidekick, Bodie (an over-sized chocolate lab). My signs are inspired by music, the western lifestyle, and humor with a twist. Rustic in nature, all are handcrafted using salvaged and reclaimed boards or rough pine. They are framed in a cedar lath and then finished with a spar urethane for protection and durability INDOORS and OUT.
I begin each piece by determining the dimensions for the text and other embellishments (extra stenciling or corner pieces). After a board is chosen it is sanded, painted or stained, and then hand stenciled. Last, but not least, is the framing and spar application. Due to the nature of salvaged wood there may be slight variances in knots, color, nail holes, gouges, and cracks. Some are more distressed then others but this only adds to the character and charm of each piece. All sizes are approximate and hanging hardware is not included.

How did you come up with the name Crow Bar D'signs?
~ The canny and intelligent crow has always been my favorite winged one. Sometimes referred to as the Messenger Bird, there are many that nest near our home and I enjoy their company. Coincidentally, the crow bar is also the handiest tool in my box when I need to dismantle a barn or old building in my hunt for old boards. I also wanted the name to have a brand like style. I have always been fascinated by the old western brands, hence the crow over the bar logo.
Did you make these?
~ You bet. Start to finish, I create each sign. From the beginning stages of design to the finish stage of framing. Packaging too!
Can the signs be placed outdoors?
~ Yes. I do recommend that a coat of spar urethane be applied every year or so to maintain protection and durability from the elements. It is easy enough to do and can be purchased in spray form at your local hardware store.
Do you do custom signs?
~ Certainly. I always enjoy working with a customer creating a sign that they will love. If there is a particular message you would like or a certain background color you would prefer on a sign you already see, then please contact me to discuss the details.
